Hey there! I’m Hyla.

I make things on the internet, generally involving videos and code.

More than just making things

I’m an Autistic trans-nonbinary person who has a passion for creating things that interest me, particularly when it has to do with media or computers. While I currently study for a career in software engineering, I spend my time working on my own passion projects.

It’s been a long journey and I still have a lot to learn and experience…

Three Hylas, three personalities

Depending on where and when you see me, you’ve probably seen one of these three familiar faces… and they all have stories behind them.

The Splatsona

You’ve probably seen them whenever I play Splatoon, whether it’s through watching any of my highlights or streams featuring the Octoling, or in some of my past Source Filmmaker renders!

They are more of a frontliner with a favour towards fast melee weapons. They swap constantly between the Inkbrush, Splatana Wiper and Tri-Slosh. That said, they’re always keen to try new things as well!

They’re quite outgoing and friendly towards others - they never take themselves too seriously when in matches. After all, what’s a game without any fun, particularly if not combined with friends?

(That’s probably why they don’t favour the more competitive sides of Anarchy battles, either…)

Hyla, in person

Ever since I started hormone therapy in 2023 - with estrogen starting 2024 - I’ve never been more confident in myself as a person. For all the offline friends that I’ve met, this is the Hyla you’ve seen!

In the past, I’ve been quite shy around others. I still carry a pair of noise-cancelling headphones to keep me within my own bubble after all, but that’s mostly due to sensory reasons.

Embracing my gender identity, and affirming that through hormone therapy, has definitely helped with my confidence! And even possibly made me adorably cute.

(Seriously, a lot of people said I both look younger and cuter, now that I’m on estrogen…)

The Heptopod

The newest and current face of my online identity, this expressive heptopod’s greatest wish is to spread happiness and joy to anyone they come across. Who can’t smile back at this goober?

Originally, she was a spin-off character based off my Splatsona for it to become my fursona (when I dived into that community for a bit). Since then, she’s evolved to become an expressive being.

The first thing you’re probably thinking is “oh my gosh, your character looks so adorably happy” - and that’s the goal, being a character everyone can connect to.

(She’s quite expressive, even down to an emotional level, but that’s for another time…)
